Narrative
NEWPORT NEWS, VA – A multi-vehicle collision caused by a speeding driver killed a 5-year-old girl and injured several others just over a week ago in Newport News.
The accident occurred on the eastbound side of I-64 near mile marker 205, which is near the Newport News Visitor Center.
Police say that 45-year-old Willie I. Greene was travelling eastbound at a high rate of speed in a Dodge Durango when he struck the rear of a 2022 Hyundai Sonata. Greene then entered the westbound side of the interstate and struck both a 2021 Toyota Tacoma and a Nissan Altima.
A 5-year-old died five days after the crash at an area hospital from injuries sustained when she was ejected from the Nissan.
The drivers of the Hyundai and the Nissan were hospitalized along with Greene for injuries of unknown severity.
